Ciena Blue Planet Operate
About
This connector is a network management system designed to manage Ciena devices.
It can create a Ciena Blue Planet Operate Network Element DVE as a virtual representation of the managed device.
Configuration
Connections
HTTP Main connection
This connector uses an HTTP connection and requires the following input during element creation:
HTTP CONNECTION:
- IP address/host: The polling IP of the Ciena Blue Planet Operate.
- IP port: The port to communicate with the API, by default 60443.
- Bus address: By default bypassproxy.
SNMP Secondary Connection
This connector uses a Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) connection to process incoming traps. It requires the following input during element creation:
SNMP CONNECTION:
- IP address/host: The polling IP of the Ciena Blue Planet Operate.
SNMP Settings:
- IP port: By default 161.
- Get community string: The community string used when reading values, by default public.
- Set community string: The community string used when setting values, by default private.
Initialization
On the General page, the API Key and User ID parameters need to be filled in before polling of data can occur.
If DVEs need to be created automatically after data is polled, make sure that on the Device Management page, the DVE Auto Creation option is enabled and the Default View Name is filled in.
Web Interface
The web interface is only accessible when the client machine has network access to the product.
How to use (1.0.0.x)
The element created with this connector consists of the following data pages:
General: Displays configuration parameters required for the HTTP requests, as well as the Nodes tables.
Device Management: Contains settings and information related to the DVE configuration:
- DVE Auto Creation: This toggle button determines whether DVEs are automatically created. Automatic creation requires that the Default View Name is filled in.
- Default View Name: Determines the view where DVEs will be created.
- Remove Unavailable Devices: Clicking this button removes DVEs and Device Management table rows for unavailable node devices. Please note that when DVE is deleted, all trending and alarm data for this DVE is also deleted.
- Device Elements: This subpage displays a table of running DVEs.
Nodes: Displays the Ciena node devices monitored by the Blue Planet Operate.
Alarms: Displays active alarms from the nodes.
Web Interface: Displays the web interface of the polling IP address
