Media Links Trunk

About

The Media Links Xscend Trunk module is an interface module that connects a Media Links Xscend chassis to an IP media network. It acts as a high-density gateway, multiplexing signals from various media processing cards and transporting them across the network.

This connector is used to monitor Trunk modules installed in the Xscend chassis.

Key Features

  • Alarm monitoring: Monitor all alarms (including inactive alarms) or only active alarms.
  • Environmental health monitoring: Monitor basic temperature and voltage metrics for the Trunk (STU/TU) modules.
  • Optical metrics monitoring: View metrics for every SFP/QSFP module, including optical receive/transmit power, transceiver supply voltage, and internal temperature.

Use Cases

Minimize Downtime Through Proactive Health Monitoring

Challenge: Unexpected link failures can lead to service interruptions and costly downtime.

Solution: This connector continuously monitors metrics like laser bias current and temperature.

Benefit: Proactively monitoring these metrics helps identify degrading optics before they cause a total link failure.
