Exploring the DIS MIB Browser
In this tutorial, you familiarize yourself with the DIS MIB Browser's functionalities by loading a MIB file, generating parameters, and comparing them in a connector.
Tip
You can follow along with this step-by-step video tutorial.
Note
This tutorial uses DataMiner Integration Studio version 2.44.
Prerequisites
Carefully read Using the DIS MIB Browser
Download the tutorial files from GitHub
Step 1: Open the connector solution
Once you have downloaded the tutorial files, double-click the Tutorials-DIS-MIB_Browser.sln file to open Visual Studio with the connector solution.
Step 2: Explore the DIS MIB Browser functionalities
Load a MIB file:
Launch the DIS MIB Browser from Visual Studio.
Go to the Files tab and select Add.
After selecting the MIB file, click Load files to start the loading process.
Go to the MIB Tree tab, and explore the MIB Tree by identifying the newly added parameters (i.e. "1.3.6.1.4.1.9999").
Generate a parameter:
Find the cpuLoad parameter in the MIB Tree.
Drag and drop it into the connector (i.e. protocol.xml) to see how the parameter details are automatically filled.
Generate parameters in bulk:
Right-click a chosen location in your connector and select Generate Parameters.
In the second window, select systemDateTime, moduleName, and logTable to generate multiple parameters simultaneously, and observe the process.
Compare the loaded MIB file with the connector:
Navigate to the Compare tab.
Click Refresh.
Create a list of any discrepancies between the MIB file and the connector.
If there are parameters in the MIB file not in the connector, use the drag and drop feature to integrate them into the connector.
Note
Because of how we define tables, the comparison will always show the first column of a table, even if it is already included in the connector.
Step 3: Submit your protocol.xml file
Once you have successfully navigated the steps under Explore the DIS MIB Browser functionalities, forward your updated protocol.xml file to Team Data Acquisition.
Adhere to the following email format:
