M
Term | Description |

MAC address | Media Access Control address. Identification number that uniquely identifies each device in a network. |
Main Release | The Main Release of DataMiner is the upgrade track of the DataMiner software that has one major upgrade per year as well as regular Cumulative Updates (CUs) with all the latest fixes. In general, no new features are added in this track, except for specific isolated cases that do not affect existing functionality. Using this upgrade track is recommended for production environments that do not require specific features only available in the Feature Release. |
MAM | Media Asset Management. Management of typically large-sized video and media files. |
Managed inventory | In the context of DataMiner IDP, this represents the elements in a DMS that are managed by IDP. See DataMiner IDP app. |
Maps | DataMiner module that allows you to visualize real-time data from the DMS on top of geographical maps provided by online map services. See Maps. |
Masking | Marking a DataMiner object as to be ignored for alarm monitoring. |
Matrix parameter | A parameter that combines a series of inputs and outputs in a matrix, allowing users to connect inputs and outputs using the crosspoints in the matrix. See Matrix parameters. |
MCPC | Multiple Channels Per Carrier. Technology where multiple broadcasting streams are multiplexed together into a single bit stream. |
MCR | Master Control Room. Control center of a broadcast operation. |
MCU | Master Control Unit. Central management device. |
MD5 | Message Digest 5. Cryptographic hash algorithm. |
Measurement point | In the context of spectrum analysis, a measurement point is series of sets that is executed on devices to select an input for a spectrum analyzer device, e.g. to set a switch to the correct position. See Spectrum Analysis. |
Mediation protocol | Standardized protocol that forms a mediation layer on top of device-specific protocols, thereby providing a unified view on similar devices that have a different device-specific protocol. Also known as base protocol. |
Memory file | Variable within an Automation script that consists of a container of values. See Script variables. |
MER | Modulation Error Ratio. Measurement of the performance of a digital media transmitter or receiver in a communications system using digital modulation. |
MFN | Multi-Frequency Network. Network where multiple radio frequencies are used to transmit media content. |
MHEG-5 | Set of international standards regarding the presentation of multimedia information, standardized by the Multimedia and Hypermedia Experts Group (MHEG). |
MHP | Multimedia Home Platform. Open standard for middleware, designed by the DVB project for interactive digital TV. |
MIB | Management Information Base. A virtual information store managing objects, which is typically accessed using the Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP). See Terminology related to the SNMP protocol. |
MIME | Multipurpose Internet Mail Extension. Internet standard that extends the format of email messages to support text in character sets other than ASCII, as well as attachments of audio, video, images, and application programs. |
Mobile Gateway | DataMiner module that allows two-way communication with a DMS via SMS text messages. See Mobile Gateway. |
Monitoring app | Web application used to monitor a DataMiner System. |
MOTS | Military Off-The-Shelf. Term used for off-the shelf products that have been developed or customized by a commercial vendor to respond to specific military requirements. |
MPEG | Moving Picture Experts Group. Working group formed by ISO and IEC to set standards for audio and video compression and transmission, such as MPEG-2 and MPEG-4 AVC. |
MPLS | Multi-Protocol Label Switching. Routing technique in telecommunications networks that directs data based on short path labels instead of long network addresses, which avoids complex lookups in a routing table and speeds up traffic flows. |
MPTS | Multiple Program Transport Stream. Transport stream that carries more than one program. |
MSO | Multiple System Operator. Company that owns and operators several cable systems. |
MSP | Managed Service Provider. Company that provides managed services, such as remote management of a customer's IT infrastructure or end-user systems. |
MVNO | Mobile Virtual Network Operator. Wireless communications services provider that does not own the wireless network infrastructure over which they provide services to their customers. |

NATS | Open-source messaging system used by DataMiner for communication between DMAs from DataMiner 10.1.0/10.1.1 onwards. |
NBI | North-Bound Interface. Interface that allows a component to communicate with a component at a higher level. |
Network orchestration | Automated configuration, coordination and management of a network. |
NFV | Network Functions Virtualization. Network architecture where functions such as network address translation (NAT), intrusion detection, caching, etc. are virtualized as building blocks of communication services. |
NMS | Network Management System. Software system that allows monitoring and management of the software and hardware components of a network. |
NOC | Network Operations Center. Centralized location from which technicians monitor, manage and maintain client networks. |

OFDM | Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing. Method of digital signal modulation that splits a single data stream across different narrowband channels at different frequencies to reduce interference and crosstalk. |
OFDMA | Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple Access. Multi-user extension of the OFDM architecture. |
Offline impact | Indication of whether a parameter will have an impact during the offline window of an SLA. See Creating an information template. |
Offload database | Dedicated MySQL, MSSQL or Oracle database for a DataMiner System, to which information is offloaded from the local DMA databases. Previously also called central database. See Offload database. |
OID | Object Identifier. Value uniquely identifying a managed object in a MIB hierarchy. |
OLT | Optical Line Termination. Device that serves as the service provider endpoint of a passive optical network. |
ONT | Optical Network Terminal. Device used to terminate a fiber-optic line, demultiplex the signal into its component parts and provide power to customer telephones. Also known as ONU (Optical Network Unit). |
OpenSearch | Open-source search and analytics engine, which can be used as the DataMiner Indexing database. See OpenSearch database. |
OPEX | Operating expense. The ongoing cost to run a product, system or business. |
OSM | OpenStreetMap. Free community-built map application, which can be integrated with DataMiner Maps. See Maps. |
OSPF | Open Shortest Path First. Routing protocol for IP networks used to find the best path between the source and destination router within an autonomous system. |
OSS | Operations Support System. Software system that allows service providers to monitor, control, analyze and manage their network. |
OTA | Over-The-Air. Refers to wireless transmission, typically in the context of software updates distributed to mobile devices or TV and radio broadcasts transmitted wirelessly. |
OTT | Over-The-Top. Refers to media streaming services offered directly to viewers via the internet, rather than through a traditional cable or broadcast provider. |
OU | Occasional Use. Refers to services that are not used continuously, for example satellite capacity that is offered to broadcasters for ad hoc and periodic demands. |
Outage | In the context of DataMiner Business Intelligence, the temporary unavailability of the service monitored by an SLA. See Business Intelligence. |
Outlier | Change in the behavior of a trend, detected by DataMiner Analytics, where the value suddenly spikes upwards or downwards and then returns to its previous, normal behavior. See Working with behavioral anomaly detection |
OWM | OpenWeatherMap. Online service that provides weather data and that can be integrated in DataMiner Maps. See Maps. |

Page data | Custom fields with data assigned to a page in Visio. See Working with shape data in Microsoft Visio. |
PAM | Production Asset Management. System designed to manage the production workflow, often in digital media production. |
Parameter | A variable that refers to pieces of data in the system. See Parameters. |
Parameter dependency | A relationship between two or more parameters defined in an element protocol. See Parameter dependencies. |
Pattern matching | The automatic recognition of a tagged pattern in the trend data of a parameter. See Working with pattern matching. |
Pending inventory | In the context of DataMiner IDP, this represents the elements in a DMS that are not yet managed by IDP. Also known as "unmanaged inventory". See DataMiner IDP app. |
PHY | Physical layer. |
PMR | Private Mobile Radio. Two-way radio voice communication systems using portable, mobile, base station and dispatch console radios. Also known as Professional Mobile Radio and Land Mobile Radio (LMR). |
PON | Passive Optical Network. Fiber-optic telecommunications technology for the delivery of broadband network to end customers. |
PoP | Point of Presence. Artificial demarcation point or interface point between communicating entities. |
Post-roll | The final stage of a booking life cycle, which contains the events that should take place after the booking has ended. See Service and Resource Management. |
Pre-roll | The initial stage of a booking life cycle, which contains the events that should take place before the booking itself starts. See Service and Resource Management. |
Primary element | Element within a redundancy group that is operational in normal conditions. See Primary elements, backup elements and virtual primary elements. |
Proactive (cap) detection | The automatic prediction of future alarm threshold breaches. See Proactive cap detection. |
Production version | The version of a protocol that is currently the main version used in the DMS. |
Profile | Configuration required for a function resource. See Service and Resource Management. |
Profile definition | Definition of the configuration, monitored KPIs, capacities and capabilities of a function resource, which can contain parameters and scripts. See Service and Resource Management. |
Profile instance | An instance of a profile with particular values assigned to each of the parameters in the corresponding profile definition. See Service and Resource Management. |
Profile Manager | Legacy name for the Profiles module in DataMiner Cube. See The Profiles module. |
Profile parameter | Parameter in a profile definition, which is linked to one or more parameters of protocols in the DMS. See The Profiles module. |
Protocol | An XML file that allows a DMA to communicate with a data source in the system. Also known as connector or driver. See Protocols. |
Protocol package | Package containing all files necessary to install a particular DataMiner protocol on an existing DataMiner System. |
PSK | Phase-Shift Keying. Digital modulation process that conveys data by changing the phase of a transmitted signal. |
PTP | Precision Time Protocol. Protocol used to synchronize clocks throughout a network. See DataMiner PTP app. |
Pulse | DataMiner Cube homepage, displayed when no cards are open in the workspace. See DataMiner Pulse. |

QAM | Quadrature Amplitude Modulation. Transmission technique for digital signals that combines phase modulation and amplitude modulation. |
Query executer | DataMiner tool that allows users to connect to an SQL database and query it using SQL statements. See Querying an SQL database. |
QuickMenu | Shortcut menu in DataMiner Cube that allows quick navigation between UI sections. Accessible via the keyboard shortcut Ctrl + Q. |

RADIUS | Remote Authentication Dial In User Service. Authentication, Authorization and Accounting (AAA) protocol that manages network access. |
RAID | Redundant Array of Independent Disks. |
RCA | Root Cause Analysis. DataMiner functionality that allows you to filter alarms based on how far they are removed from their probable root cause. See Using the RCA slider and Working with the Connectivity Editor. |
Read parameter | A parameter that displays a read-only value. See Read parameters versus write parameters. |
Real-time trending | Type of trending where all values are logged for a relatively short period. Usually, this type of trending is kept for a window of 24 or 48 hours. See Trending techniques. |
Redundancy group | A group of elements that have been configured in such a way that if one or more of them fail, others can take over automatically. See Redundancy groups. |
Redundancy group template | A template that contains the configuration for a redundancy group but does not have fixed elements assigned. See Creating a redundancy group template and Assigning elements to a redundancy group template. |
Redundancy mode | Mode that determines whether element switchover and switchback in a redundancy group happen automatically or manually, or a combination of both. See Changing the redundancy mode. |
Regular expression | Sequence of characters resulting in a pattern that can be used to find and manage matching text. |
Relative alarm threshold | Dynamic alarm threshold that is configured as a percentage representing the delta with the baseline value. See Configuring dynamic alarm thresholds. |
Replicated element/service | An element or service that is shown in a DMS, but managed by a different DMS. It inherits all parameter values from its counterpart in the other DMS. |
Reporter | Legacy DataMiner application used to generate graphical reports with statistical data and operational metrics of the DMS. See DMS Reporter. |
Reservation | Alternative name for booking in legacy DataMiner versions. See Service and Resource Management. |
Resource | Any thing that can be used and reserved in a booking instance. See Service and Resource Management. |
Resource Manager | Legacy name for the Resources module in DataMiner Cube. See The Resources module. |
Resource pool | Logical collection of resources. For example, microphone, headphones and audio mixer could be resources in an "Audio" resource pool. See Service and Resource Management. |
RF | Radio Frequency. Rate of oscillation of electromagnetic radio waves within a range suitable for communication uses. |

RLM | Rack Layout Manager. Component of DataMiner IDP that is used to manage and monitor the location of managed devices. See DataMiner IDP app. |

Router Control | DataMiner application that allows you to configure the matrices in a DMS using a single, customizable user interface. See Router Control. |
RTCP | Real-Time Transport Control Protocol. Network protocol that provides statistics and control information for an RTP session. |
RTE | Runtime error. |
RTMP | Real-Time Messaging Protocol. Protocol for streaming of audio, video and data over the internet. |
RTP | Real-Time Transport Protocol. Network protocol for the delivery of audio and video over IP networks. |
RTSP | Real-Time Streaming Protocol. Network protocol used to control streaming media servers. |
RTT | Round-Trip Time. |
RTU | Remote Terminal Unit. Device used for remote monitoring and control of field devices that connects to a distributed control system or SCADA. |

Scan range | Definition of how to scan the network as part of DataMiner IDP. This includes the IP address ranges where the scan should occur and the CI Types indicating the types of devices that should be detected. See DataMiner IDP app. |
Scheduled event | An event consisting of a start and stop task, scheduled to be executed at a specific time in the DMS. See Scheduling an event based on a Scheduler template. |
Scheduled task | An action that is scheduled to be executed at a specific time in the DMS. See Manually adding a scheduled task. |
Scheduler | DataMiner application that allows you to schedule certain actions in the DataMiner System. See Scheduler. |
SCPC | Single Channel Per Carrier. Technology where a single signal is used at a given frequency and bandwidth. |
SCSI | Small Computer System Interface. |
SDH | Synchronous Digital Hierarchy. Standard technology in Europe for synchronous data transmission on optical media. Its US counterpart is SONET. |
SDI | Serial Digital Interface. Standard for digital video transmission over coaxial cable. |
SDN | Software-Defined Networking. Network architecture approach that allows a network to be intelligently and centrally controlled by means of software applications. |
SDR | Standard Dynamic Range. Refers to images and video using a conventional gamma curve, as opposed to High Dynamic Range (HDR) imaging. |
SDV | Switched Digital Video. Also referred to as Switched Broadcast (SWB). Method for distributing digital video via cable, where digitally encrypted channels are switched out when they are not being watched and switched in when they are needed. |
Second-party DataMiner Connector | DataMiner connector developed by the owner of a DataMiner System. |
Serial Gateway | Serial server that allows you to connect multiple RS-232 ports to a DMS via the acquisition LAN of a DMA. See Serial gateways. |
Service | Group of elements or partial elements, combined from the perspective of a particular business aspect. See Services and service templates. |
Service booking instance | Booking instance that will create a matching DataMiner service while it is active. See Service and Resource Management. |
Service booking definition | Blueprint for service booking instances that are grouped in a recurring pattern. See Service and Resource Management. |
Service definition | Definition of the topology, behavior (LSO) and data exchange ruleset (DTR) of a service, in the context of DataMiner SRM. See Service and Resource Management. |
Service definition template | Type of service definition that is typically used to define the different types of services that need to be instantiated in the Service & Resource Management module, as opposed to a service definition that is only intended for one use. See Service and Resource Management. |
Service instance | Instance of a service definition to which the necessary profile instances and resources have been linked. See Service and Resource Management. |
Service level agreement | In the context of DataMiner Business Intelligence, this refers to a specific type of element that monitors a service level agreement, i.e. an agreement between a service provider and a customer. Abbreviated as SLA. See Business Intelligence. |
Service Manager | Legacy name for the Services module in DataMiner Cube. See The Resources module. |
Service profile | Profile for one or more service definitions that makes it possible to preconfigure profile instances for the service definitions, so that these no longer need to be selected during booking creation. In DataMiner, this is available in the form of service profile definitions with corresponding service profile instances. See Using the profiles tab. |
Service profile definition | Definition of a service profile that includes the service definitions to which the service profile applies and the mapping of the service profile nodes to the service definition nodes. See Using the profiles tab. |
Service profile instance | Instance of a service profile definition with specific profile instances linked to it. See Using the profiles tab. |
Service protocol | Protocol that can be assigned to a service when the service is created or edited. Such a service is known as an "enhanced service" and allows alarm monitoring and trending. Note that in earlier DataMiner versions the term "service definition" was used instead, but this term is now exclusively used for the definition of how the various functions in a service are linked to each other, in the context of DataMiner SRM. |
Service state | In the context of DataMiner SRM, this is the state that is defined for each phase in the life cycle of the service representing a booking, e.g. start, stop, pause, standby, etc. When there is a change in the life cycle of the booking, the resources used in the booking will be configured according the settings for the corresponding service state. See Service and Resource Management. |
Service template | Template that can be used to easily create many similar services at the same time. See Service templates. |
Service Templates | DataMiner Cube module that allows easy management of service templates. See Using the Service Templates module. |
SFN | Single-Frequency Network. Broadcast network where several transmitters simultaneously send the same signal over the same frequency channel. |
SFP | Small Form-factor Pluggable. Compact, hot-pluggable network interface module used for both telecommunication and data communication applications. |
SHA | Secure Hash Algorithm. |
Shape data | Custom fields with data assigned to a shape or group of shapes in Visio. See Working with shape data in Microsoft Visio. |
SHF | Super High Frequency. Indicates radio frequencies in the range between 3 and 30 gigahertz. |
Simulated element | An element that displays data from a simulation file instead of communicating with an actual device. See Simulated elements. |
SLA | Service Level Agreement. In the context of DataMiner Business Intelligence, this refers to a specific type of element that monitors a service level agreement, i.e. an agreement between a service provider and a customer. See Business Intelligence. |
SLA offline window | The time interval during which the service that an SLA applies to is considered offline. See Business Intelligence. |
SLA outage | Alarm on the service an SLA applies to that is considered a violation of the SLA. See Business Intelligence. |
SLA window | The time interval for which SLA compliance is calculated. See Business Intelligence. |
SLC | Skyline Communications. |
Sliding window | Time frame with a fixed size that moves along with the present time. Can for example be used in the Alarm Console. See Adding and removing alarm tabs in the Alarm Console. |
SLLogCollector | Tool that allows you to easily collect log information and memory dumps from a DMA. See SLLogCollector. |
SLNetClientTest tool | Advanced system administration tool with a range of different functionalities. See SLNetClientTest tool. |
SLOffload tool | Tool that can be used to manually trigger a database offload to an Oracle or a MySQL database. See SLOffload tool. |
Smart serial connection | Serial connection where the device can send messages to the DMA without having received a command requesting a response. |
SME | Subject-Matter Expert. |
SMI | Structure of Management Information. |
SMTP | Simple Mail Transfer Protocol. Protocol used to transmit email across networks. |
Snapshot | Parameter information that is periodically stored in the database for specific parameters, as defined in their protocol. See Creating an information template. |
SNG | Satellite News Gathering. Similar to ENG (Electronic News Gathering), but refers specifically to the use of satellite communication to support collecting and reporting news from remote locations outside a studio. |
SNMP | Simple Network Management Protocol. Widely used application layer protocol for managing network elements. |
SNMP agent | A software component that reports information to an SNMP manager via SNMP. In the context of DataMiner, this term is used for the part of an element that provides information about the element in the format described in the SNMP protocol. See About SNMP managers. |
SNMP Get | An SNMP message sent by an SNMP manager to an SNMP agent requesting the latter to return the current value of a particular element parameter |
SNMP manager | A software application that manages SNMP agents. See About SNMP managers. |
SNMP notification | An SNMP notification sent by an SNMP agent to an SNMP manager informing the latter that an alarm event occurred on a particular element. This can be an SNMP trap, or, in case the SNMP manager should acknowledge receipt, an inform message. See SNMP managers. |
SNMP Set | An SNMP message sent by an SNMP manager to an SNMP agent ordering the latter to update the value of a particular element parameter. |
SNMP trap | An SNMP notification sent by an SNMP agent to an SNMP manager informing the latter that an alarm event occurred on a particular element. |
SOA | Service-Oriented Architecture. Software architecture where services are provided to the other components by application components, through a communication protocol over a network. |
SOAP | Simple Object Access Protocol. Messaging protocol for exchanging structured information in the implementation of web services in computer networks. |
SOC | Security Operations Center. Centralized facility from which a security team works to prevent, detect and handle cybersecurity threats and incidents. |
Software redundancy | Redundancy logic configured in DataMiner Cube, based on Automation scripts. See Software redundancy. |
SONET | Synchronous Optical NETworking. Standard technology in the US and Canada for synchronous data transmission on optical media. Its European counterpart is SDH. |
SOP | Standard Operating Procedure. Set of step-by-step instructions used to carry out complex routine operations. |
Spectrum analysis | DataMiner module that can be used to integrate spectrum analyzers in the DMS, so that they can be used for continuous RF performance monitoring. See Spectrum Analysis. |
Spectrum buffer | Most recent spectrum trace retrieved during script execution (e.g. with a spectrum monitor), stored in the DataMiner spectrum service. See Watching spectrum buffers. |
Spectrum monitor | Spectrum analysis feature where a spectrum script is run, optionally with a combination of measurement points and/or presets, in order to make the spectrum analyzer sweep the input signal at regular intervals to measure particular variables. See Working with spectrum monitors. |
Spectrum preset | Spectrum configuration that can be saved and loaded, including spectrum settings, markers, reference lines, etc. See Using Spectrum Analysis presets. |
Spectrum threshold | A boundary for a spectrum trace that can be used to detect issues using spectrum scripts. See Configuring spectrum thresholds. |
Spectrum thumbnail | Image displaying a spectrum graph, which can for example be embedded in Visual Overview. See Linking a shape to an element parameter. |
SPG | Sync Pulse Generator. Device that functions as a master timing source for other devices, by producing specific synchronization signals. |
SPI | Serial Peripheral Interface. Interface for serial communication, usually used to exchange data with peripheral devices. |
SPTS | Single Program Transport Stream. Transport stream that carries a single program. |
SQL | Structured Query Language. Programming language that is typically used for relational database management. |
SRM | Service and Resource Management. DataMiner software allowing you to virtualize your system resources, create an overview of how resources are connected within your infrastructure, and manage which resources are booked and when. See Service and Resource Management. |
SRM Core | Suite of DataMiner core software modules that are the basis of DataMiner Service & Resource Management (SRM). Consists of seven DataMiner software modules: DataMiner Service Manager, Virtualization Engine, Resource Manager, Profile Manager, Connectivity Framework, Automation Engine and Scheduling Engine. |
SRM Standard Solution | DataMiner blueprint configuration that facilitates and accelerates the design and deployment of application-specific SRM solutions. This includes an installation and upgrade package of the required DataMiner components, a pre-built user interface to configure and operate SRM solutions, and ready-made workflows for booking and life cycle orchestration of services (LSO). |
SSH | Secure Shell. Protocol for secure remote login and other secure network services over an insecure network. |
SSPA | Solid-State Power Amplifier. Amplifier that uses field-effect transistors to amplify radio frequency signals. |
STaaS | Storage as a Service. Cloud-native storage platform that allows users to connect their DMS to a scalable storage platform. |
StatMux | Statistical Multiplexing. Multiplexing technique where a communication channel is divided into an arbitrary number of variable bitrate data streams. |
STB | Set-top box. Device connecting a TV to an external source in order to receive digital television broadcasts. |
Stencil | Preconfigured shapes or groups of shapes in Microsoft Visio. DataMiner supplies stencils in the DataMiner house style. See Accessing the DataMiner stencils. |
Stream sniffer | Functionality within the stream viewer application that allows the capture of a stream for diagnostic purposes. See Connecting to an element using Stream Viewer. |
Stream viewer | DataMiner application that provides a real-time view of communication between a DMA and an element. See Connecting to an element using Stream Viewer. |
String parameter | A parameter that has a string as its value. |
Suggestion event | Notification in the Alarm Console generated by the DataMiner artificial intelligence capabilities. See Advanced analytics features in the Alarm Console. |
Surveyor | Pane in DataMiner Cube that contains a hierarchical overview of all views, elements, services, etc. in the DataMiner System. |
SVN | Subversion. |
Sweeptime | The time that a spectrum analyzer takes to tune across the displayed frequency span. See Changing the spectrum analyzer settings. |

Ticket | A record in the system related to a specific problem, which can contain information such as the affected resource and the severity of the issue. See Ticketing. |
Ticket domain | Definition of the layout of a collection of tickets, which allows the tickets of a third-party system to sync with DataMiner tickets. Also known as a "ticket field resolver". See Ticketing. |
Ticketing | Application used to create and/or manage tickets in DataMiner. See Ticketing. |

TS | Transport Stream. Digital container format for transmission and storage of audio, video and data of a broadcast. |

TTL | Time to live. The length of time that information is kept in a database. |

Virtual function instance | Instantiation of a virtual function definition, consisting of both a virtual function and a virtual function resource. Virtual function resource | Resource that is part of an element with a specific function, sometimes simply called "function". Virtual function resources are represented in DataMiner as a specific type of virtual elements, i.e. virtual functions. See Service and Resource Management. |
Virtual platform | Logical collection of resource pools, in the context of DataMiner SRM. See Service and Resource Management. |
Virtual primary element | Virtual element within a redundancy group that represents a primary or backup element in the group, depending on which of these is currently operational. See Primary elements, backup elements and virtual primary elements. |
Virtual SNMP agent | SNMP agent functionality that can be activated for an element in Cube, so that it forwards SNMP notifications toward every activated SNMP manager defined in the DataMiner System. See Enabling the virtual SNMP agent of an element. |
Visio | Microsoft Visio is an application that can be used to create diagrams and vector graphics. Visio drawings can be used in DataMiner as visual overviews. See Visio drawings. |
Visual overview | Graphical representation of components and data in the system. The visual overviews in DataMiner are created in Microsoft Visio. The pages of a card that contain these graphical representations are also referred to as "Visual Overview" in general. |
VPN | Virtual Private Network. Secure, encrypted connection between two networks or between an individual user and a network. |
VRF | Virtual Routing and Forwarding. Technology that allows multiple instances of a routing table to exist in the same router at the same time. |
VSAT | Very Small Aperture Terminal. Earth station with a dish antenna that is smaller than 3.8 meters. |
